This module will be offered in the summer semester of 2026 under the title Sustainable Production in the study program SES. Once you enroll in this course, you will automatically be enrolled in the SES course.

This course gives an introduction to Production Management Systems. The manufacture of physical products takes place through so-called production systems. Sometimes, simple tools are used to schedule the work in such systems, which work fine. In more complex production systems, the software supports planning and scheduling. This software is called production and scheduling (or controlling)  software (PPS or PPC). To enhance the scope of planning and scheduling and integrate other company information, the systems have been extended to Enterprise Resource Planning Software.  They span across the whole enterprise.

In this course, we will cover the basic functions of PPC, key linkages to the ERP system, and how an incoming order is handled from placement through delivery and invoice issuance.

We will use SAP S/4HANA as the ERP system to learn the basic transactions required to perform the business processes needed to produce physical products (bikes).

To understand the consequences of decisions in business processes, we'll use serious gaming. The ERPsim game series is based on SAP S/4HANA; you'll train and deepen your SAP transactional knowledge while producing and selling various muesli products.
